Convention Dates
The convention of the National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico will be held from October 22-25, 2026. Everyone is invited to attend the Board of Directors Meeting which will be held at 7:30 p.m. on October 22, 2026.
We are excited to see one another, and we look forward to a pleasant, energizing event.

Hotel Rates and Reservations
Convention hotel rates are $159.00 per night plus tax for singles, doubles, triples, and quads. Room reservations must be made no later than Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. Reservations should be made by contacting the hotel directly at

Convention Highlights
Highlights planned for the convention include:
- Exhibits displaying technology and other items useful to the blind
- Meetings of seniors, students, and parents of blind children to discuss current successes and challenges
- Program items dealing with the training, education, and employment of the blind
- Door prizes
Pre-Registration
Pre-registration forms and payment for the convention must be received by Sarah Villavicencio no later than Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026. There will be no refunds after October 1st, 2026. It is possible to register after pre-registration and during the convention, but the cost will be higher, and there will be a very limited number of meal tickets available.
Banquet Tickets for Newsline Volunteers
Newsline for the Blind is a program that allows persons who are blind to listen to a variety of newspapers and publications using their phone. The reading is done by approximately 80 trained volunteers. This statewide service is available free of charge, 365 days a year. Newsline averages more than 10,000 calls per month.
The volunteer readers devote many hours of their time to Newsline each year, so to thank them for their commitment and dedication, we would like to provide a free banquet ticket to every volunteer who wishes to join us for the banquet on Saturday, October 24. To provide the free tickets, we are asking for your help. If it is within your ability to do so, we ask that you please consider purchasing one or more banquet tickets for Newsline volunteers to show our gratitude for all they have done to help the blind community.
Registration For Exhibitors
Exhibitors can register online to purchase one or more tables in the exhibit hall.
Exhibitors can also download and print the exhibitor registration form if they prefer.
General Convention Schedule
For those who have not attended our convention before, here is a quick overview of the convention schedule for your reference.
- Thursday 7:30-9:30 PM: NFBNM Board Meeting (all are welcome)
- Friday 9:00 AM-noon: General Session Part 1
- Friday Noon-1:15 PM: NFB Welcome Luncheon
- Friday 1:30-6:00 PM: Various meetings throughout the afternoon, such as the At Large Chapter, SAGE group, Orientation Center and STEP alumni, and public meeting of the New Mexico Commission for the Blind.
- Friday 2:00-6:00 PM: Exhibits
- Friday 7:30-10:00 PM: Entertainment Activity
- Saturday 8:00-noon: Exhibits
- Saturday 8:00-11:30 AM: Various meetings throughout the morning, such as the Resolutions Committee, blind students, and parents of blind children.
- Saturday 1:30-4:30 PM: General Session Part 2
- Saturday 6:00-7:00 PM: No-host social hour and silent auction display
- Saturday 7:00-10:00 PM: Banquet
- Sunday 9:00 AM-noon: General Session Part 3
